Meet Joice, our resident photographer.
How did you get into photography?
My aunt gifted 12-year-old me a little Nikon Coolpix & the rest is history! I was pretty in awe of photography from the beginning. Encapsulating some of my favourite moments into something tangible has always felt like pure magic to me.
What do you love about being a photographer?
I love that I'm able to narrate stories of the themes I'm passionate about. Hopefully, I'm doing it in a way that moves others. I also love the opportunities it's provided me to connect with people of so many backgrounds.
Why do you enjoy working on shoots for Just Play?
I just love how much fun every Just Play shoot is! I'm always running around, connecting with welcoming and fun people. Everyone is just keen to have a good time.
What do you get up to outside of photography?
When I'm not shooting, you'll usually find me practicing yoga, cooking, brainstorming new creative ideas or walking my cat (I've turned into that lady this lockdown).
What's your favourite photo you've ever taken?
This photograph that I shot in Jaipur, India. The stories behind a photo are just as exciting as the end product to me. I visited Jantar Mantar, a collection of ancient astronomical instruments, at dawn one December morning. I spent most of the morning just observing the light, sounds and people. I came across this stunning linear composition and sat patiently until the perfect subjects came along.
Who would win in a fight between a shark and a bear?
Ooh, that's a tough one. I'm going to go with a shark!
