Dig, set, what? We got your back ๐
Volleyball is played by two teams on either side of a net, with the aim to hit the ball onto the floor on the other teamโs side of the court.
Players can hit the ball up to three times when sending it across the net to the other teamโs side. The team gets three hits total, including the one sending it to the opponent. A player can only hit the ball once per turn.
The ball is served from the back boundary line directly across the net to the opponentโs side. The opposing team then hits the ball up to three times while returning it, aiming to hit the floor on the first teamโs side. If the ball touches the floor, the other team gets a point.
To win, the team needs to win the best of 3 sets. 25 points and a lead of at least 2 is required to win a set. If one team is on 25 points and only leads by 1, the game continues until a team is in the lead by 2.
When the ball is in play it must pass over the net.
The opponent cannot block a serve.
What about rebound volleyball?
Rebound volleyball is similar to indoor volleyball but instead of โoutโ lines there are nets to rebound the ball back into play, so you can sustain rallies with your opposition.
And beach volleyball?
Beach volleyball is played with standard volleyball rules.
