The very best places to play mini golf
Keen to join us for Mini Golf Week but just not sure where to start? Good news - we’ve done most of the work for you.
We’ve put together a list of the very best places to play mini golf in each city, so all YOU have to do is grab your mates and play!
MELBOURNE
Heyyyyy Melbourne. I know we’re all LOVING being out and about again, so here are some places you can make the most of your newfound freedom (just know you’ll probably need to book ahead of time due to COVID-19 requirements):
Remember this one… there’s a Holey Moley in every major city so this will pop up a bit on this list. But with good reason! What could make mini golf better but cocktails, tunes and sweet 80s and 90s nostalgia.
Located right on Albert Park lake, this course is great for experts and complete newbies. With a super creative course, you’ll be dodging a whole host of animals trying to get that hole in one.
3. Glow Golf
Known as Australia’s first glow in the dark mini golf course, this is an adventure in crazy colours and UV lighting. Plus, it has a teeny tiny European bar so you can rotate through and grab a beer. 🍻
Coming personally recommended by the JPHQ team, this is an awesome outdoor 18-hole course. Tom only managed to get 1 hole in one, so we challenge you to beat his high (low) score!
SYDNEY
Sydneyyyyyy you guys have some great courses - of course! (See what I did there?) Here are our top picks for you get your golf on:
I told you this would pop up a few times! Once again you can enjoy great bar food and drinks after you’ve worked up an appetite on the funky 9- and 18-hole courses.
Choose from ‘Palms’ or ‘Billabong’ themed courses that wind their way alongside rivers, ponds, and waterfalls - and be prepared to fish out a wet ball or two.
3. Putt Planet
This combined indoor and outdoor course will take you on safari through an 18-hole Savannah themed course. That’s close enough to real travelling, right? 🧳
It might sound like a contradiction, but this mini golf course really is mega. Squeezing Under the Sea, Pharaoh's Tomb, and Wild West into one course is a feat in itself - let alone in an indoor course!
PERTH
UM how come no one told me that Perth has really sick mini golf courses?? I will be personally offended if Perth players don’t send me pics of you guys playing next week. Some of my favourites are:
That’s right, glowing rooms. This 3D glow in the dark course gives you an out-of-this-world experience, taking you under the sea, deep into space, and up close and personal with some of your fave superheroes. 🦸
2. Goanna Golf at Point Walter Golf Course
Don’t worry, no actual goannas are involved in this Aussie adventure-themed outdoor course. Soak in the Australiana of it all, then wash it down with a beer in their bar.
3. Wanneroo Botanic Gardens & Mini Golf
Walking through Botanic Gardens is so 2020… Why not play a round of mini golf in them instead? Or get even more adventurous and opt for Night Golf to get the most insta-worthy pics!
This is basically a full-sized golf course scaled down to mini golf size. Feel like a giant among the intricate set up of sandtraps, bridges and water features.
ADELAIDE
Radelaide coming through with the mini golf courses! You guys are allllllll about your themed courses, so I say bonus points for dressing to theme.
SHOCKER. But hey, there’s a reason they’re everywhere. We’re talking all-out 90s theme at Holey Moley Adelaide, with a Rando Sandos old-school sandwich chaser at the bar.
Located in Glenelg and right on the beach, you’ll feel that sea breeze and soak up the sun at this beach-themed outdoor course. 🏖
This Victor Harbour-themed course has marine icons throughout, with a sea view that really sells the theme. You can even put your head in a (fake) shark’s mouth, though I’d probably disinfect it first…
Set in Hahndorf, the spinning windmills and rolling hills is a slice of German countryside life. Lederhosen, anyone?
BRISBANE
And of course we can’t forget Brisbane! From good ol’ Holey Moley to Mt Gravatt ‘foot golf’, here are our picks for Brissy’s best and brightest mini golf courses:
We have to include it - Brisbane is the home of Holey Moley and Fortitude Valley was their first ever location. In a building that was once a church, this course really is the Holiest of Moleys 🙌
This course is a bit tricky, with winding, rocky terrain - but the bar and stunning views of the CBD skyline make it all worth it in the end.
3. Golf Central Brisbane Airport
Missing travelling? Head on out to the airport anyway and play a round at Golf Central Mini Golf. There’s a fully licensed bar for all your 19th-hole needs after the game.
4. Mr Gravatt Mini Golf & Foot Golf
Sure, they have just regular mini golf - but you can also try out ‘foot golf’ for something different, which is a combo of mini golf and soccer. Or get funky with the Undercover Course and its disco and laser lights 🕺
